The Theme Song

The brand-new opening theme for Episode 35, an original big-band number, written for the show.

Sing Along

(Intro: brass hit. Announcer: "Live... from a medium-sized room in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania...")

VERSE
Downtown the moon's on a string and the rivers are tape,
the stars are all hole-punched, the skyline's in shape,
the crew's building buildings a half-step ahead,
and the host says he's fine—
(Trombone: wah-wahh.) Aw. We believe you.

CHORUS
Press record! (BAH-DAH!)
The light goes red! (BAH-DAH!)
Every bridge in Pittsburgh folds up and goes to bed!
Press record! (BAH-DAH!)
Hands steady, here we go—
It's TALK-ING! WITH! JON!

How It Was Written

The theme was built around one idea: the whole city is a set, and it's being built while Jon runs through it. The "BAH-DAH!" hits are where cut-paper title cards land. The stop in the verse is where Jon's hand shakes, and the singers kindly say they believe him.
